Gain a stellar Wi-Fi user experience, with minimizing IT support costs

With the current world estimated population of 7.8 billion, there are approximately 4.79 billion people worldwide who have access to and use the internet frequently. That means that 61.4% of the world population use the internet. Two-thirds of them use Wi-Fi as a primary means to connect to the internet.

As Gartner rightly predicts, Wi-Fi has been around a long time and will remain the primary high-performance networking technology for homes and offices through 2024.

Enterprise Wi-Fi deployments typically referred to as Corporate Wi-Fi or Enterprise WLAN or wireless networks are designed for high density use for mission critical applications.

What’s their Need?

The Enterprise demand for ubiquitous connectivity, ultra-low latency, and high reliability.

The primary goal/need is that the Enterprise Wi-Fi needs to meet top wireless performance with minimum to zero downtime.

The secondary goal/need is that any issues in the network should be measured, identified, debugged, and solved in the minimum MTR (mean time to resolution).

Difficulties to Achieve the Need

IT Admins are always on their toes to ensure optimal wireless performance as sub-par performance or downtime could lead to direct and indirect business losses.

The usually tight locations combined with the presence of multiple Wi-Fi access points lead to Wi-Fi are being the bottleneck in delivering the fast and reliable network connectivity.

The Wi-Fi is usually connected to a wired LAN over Ethernet or Fiber. Depending on the network topology, the network elements like DHCP server, DNS server, firewall can play an important role in the overall Wi-Fi experience.

The Wi-Fi experience can often suffer from many environmental factors, such as coverage, congestion, noise, and interference as well as system issues such as configuration issues.

These impairments impact the user’s Wi-Fi experience measured by poor throughput, latency.

Keeping these goals in mind, Ray Wi-Fi access points have designed the KPI.

Connection – The KPI to ensure that the user is able to successfully and in a timely manner connect to Wi-Fi. It is further divided into the below KPI which contributes to the overall KPI.

  • Uptime
  • Network Parameters
  • Roaming

Throughput – The KPI to measure the speed that the user gets once he/she is connected to the Wi-Fi. It is further divided into the below KPI which contributes to the overall KPI.

  • Coverage
  • RRM

Once the KPIs are identified, the key questions are:

  • Can these KPIs be continuously monitored & measured against a set benchmark?
  • Can the root cause be identified in case of sub-par performance?
  • Can the Wi-Fi be auto optimized to meet the KPI?

The Solution

EYE, is an artificial intelligence (AI) IT Admin. It works 24×7 and has a proactive approach to issues.
Adoption of Cloud Managed networks by businesses of all sizes will double, from less than 10% in 2018 to more than 20% by year-end 2023.

EYE tracks KPI thresholds for the wireless criteria of Connection and Throughput.

The expected KPI can be configured in the EYE. The results pre and post connection are benchmarked against the KPI and the results are available almost instantaneously.

EYE divides the KPI in factors that affect the under performance of the wireless network from environmental factors like interference to network parameters like slow DHCP server and many more.

EYE uses machine learning driven event correlation engine to crunch multiple data points simultaneously to identify the root causes of problems.

The root cause is then fed into EYE to replace manual troubleshooting tasks for the IT Admin to take a corrective action.

EYE uses the RCA to feed the intelligent RRM and dPCAP with an aim to solve the issues without manual intervention or to aid manual troubleshooting.

Intelligent Radio Resource Management

The EYE takes KPI inputs from coverage, roaming and capacity anomalies and feeds it into the intelligent RRM to drive decisions so that the RF performance continues to improve and adapt in complex and ever-changing environments.

aPCAP (Auto Packet Capture)

aPCAP is a go-to tool for IT Admins doing troubleshooting for past issues. EYE starts capturing packets and storing them in the cloud whenever it detects an issue which cannot be resolved or optimized by itself.

The Benefits

  • KPI Monitoring and Measurement
  • Proactive & Correlated Root Cause Analysis
  • Automatic Actions to meet KPI Goals
  • Automatic Packet Capture for Troubleshooting
